TaskNotes v4: Your Task Management Gets Supercharged
TaskNotes v4 brings significant improvements to how you manage tasks within OSK.
This new version includes first-class support for Obsidian Bases and includes six new dedicated Obsidian Bases:
- Agenda View - Focus on what's coming up
- Calendar View - See the big picture
- Kanban View - Visualize workflow stages
- Mini Calendar - Quick date reference
- Relationships View - Understand task dependencies
- Tasks View - Classic task list management
These templates are located in `50 Resources/54 Templates/TaskNotes/Views/` and can be customized to match your exact workflow needs.
Note that the Actions Base already includes the most important ones.
Smart Goal Linking
The `related_goals` field now has intelligent autosuggest filtering. When you link tasks to goals, OSK automatically suggests only notes tagged with `type/goal` from the `20 Actions/21 Goals` folder.
No more scrolling through your entire vault. Just the goals that matter.
Calendar Integration: Your External Calendar Meets Your PKM
This is pretty cool. TaskNotes V4 supports integrating your Google Calendar or Microsoft Calendar directly using OAuth 2.0 authentication.
Your calendar events live in one place. Your tasks and projects live in another. This disconnect creates friction, missed meetings, and mental overhead. Not anymore.
With calendar integration:
- See all your events directly in your Actions Base
- Create tasks from calendar events with one click
- Automatically link tasks to scheduled time blocks
- Maintain a single source of truth for your schedule
The integration uses OAuth 2.0 for secure, two-way synchronization:
- Your credentials are stored locally in Obsidian
- Authentication tokens refresh automatically
- You can disconnect anytime
The Actions Base becomes your true command center; where tasks, projects, goals, and calendar events converge.

Better Links
I’ve also updated the path configuration to use shortest paths when possible. This makes links much easier to read in source mode and limits the ways in which you can break your links when moving things around.
