2026-05-16 New Video - Levels of AI Context Management

Canonical version: 2026-05-16 New Video - Levels of AI Context Management.

Hey everyone!

New video is up: Levels of AI Context Management — From Generic Answers to Precision Results.

This is the second axis of how you evolve with AI; the first being the levels of use, which I covered in the previous video.

The core idea: context is THE difference between generic, mediocre AI answers and outputs that actually match your situation. Better models help. Better prompts help. But neither comes close to giving AI the right context.

The 8 Levels

  • Level 1. No context. Generic input, generic output.
  • Level 2. Prompt context. Better, but you repeat yourself constantly.
  • Level 3. Built-in platform memory. Pseudo-random, unreliable.
  • Level 4. Prompt engineering techniques. Useful short-term, models bake these in over time.
  • Level 5. Knowledge system context. This is where the curve goes exponential.
  • Level 6. Managed memory inside your knowledge system. Reliable, controlled, yours.
  • Level 7. Agent skills and lazy context loading. Deterministic, composable, token-aware.
  • Level 8. Strongly-typed knowledge system. Your second brain is also AI's brain.

Most people are stuck at Level 1 or 2. Level 5 is where it flips. Levels 6 to 8 are where AI stops being a chat app and becomes part of how you actually work.

Want to Build at Level 7 or 8?

That's exactly what we do inside Knowii. Practical workshops, real implementation help, and a community of people building their own knowledge systems with AI in the loop.

You can also grab the Obsidian Starter Kit; a 1-to-1 copy of the system I use, which I keep evolving (especially the memory and typing parts).
