Canonical version: Notebook Navigator is now Obsidian's most popular plugin.

The Notebook Navigator plugin for Obsidian just hit a milestone: it's now the #1 most popular plugin in the Obsidian community directory, and should pass a million downloads within weeks. Not bad for a file explorer replacement.

To mark the occasion, its author Johan (a fellow systematic Swede) released "Mastering Notebook Navigator 3", a one-hour masterclass split into 14 chapters. It covers the whole surface: the pane model and first-run setup, search and note filters, a writing workflow with manual sort, managing daily notes with the built-in calendar, folder notes as scratchpads, and vault profiles. He even used ElevenLabs to dub his narration into 20 languages.

Alongside the tutorial, version 3.2.4 shipped with better behavior on third-party sync providers like iCloud, and search that now covers aliases and all properties.

If Obsidian's default file explorer never clicked for you, this is the plugin people keep saying "finally made Obsidian work for me". The video is a good way in.
