I just released a new plugin: Knowii Community plugin for Obsidian. It brings the Knowii Community right into Obsidian. You can read, post, reply and get notified without ever leaving your vault.
It's listed in the official plugin directory of the Obsidian Community: https://community.obsidian.md/plugins/knowii-community
It ships with the Obsidian Starter Kit v5, but it works in any vault.
Why I built it
Knowii is my community of practice for knowledge workers. It runs on Circle.so, which means that until now, taking part in a discussion meant switching to the browser. And then coming back to Obsidian ten minutes later (if at all 😅).
I spend most of my day in Obsidian, so I wanted the community to live there too. Being able to write in the community from Obsidian is pretty cool. More time in context.
It works in the other direction as well. When you find something useful in the community, you should be able to add it to your knowledge base in one click. Copy-pasting from a browser tab doesn't count.
What it does

- Open it in the main area or in the sidebar. You sign in once
- A toolbar with back, forward and reload, plus shortcuts to home, feed, messages, notifications, events and members
- Commands for all of it, and zoom
- It reopens where you left off
Notifications, in Obsidian
You get notified for direct messages, chat messages, replies, mentions, comments, new posts, reactions, events and new members. They show up as Obsidian notices and as system notifications, and you decide when: always, only when Obsidian is in the background, or never. Each kind can be switched off on its own.
Unread counts appear in the status bar and as a badge on the ribbon icon. Right-click that icon to see the latest unread items. You can even reply to a direct message straight from the notice.
On desktop, it's instant, thanks to Knowii's live connection.
A "What's new" list

Think Gmail, but for the community. It's searchable (is:unread works), and it watches every space you belong to, beyond your own notifications. Marking an item as read or archiving it syncs back to Knowii.
From the community to your notes (and back)

This is the part I'm the most excited about:
- Save as note: any post (with its comments) or chat message (with its thread) becomes a note in one click
- Ask the community: send a question from a selection or from a whole note
- Events: see what's coming up, with a reminder 15 minutes before it starts
And if you're an admin, you get admin shortcuts too.
