An Obsidian plugin for learning an instrument in your notes: log practice in under a minute, run a practice timer, get a plan for the time you have, and let spaced review tell you what's slipping. Guitar and piano first, any instrument after.
Pi pod runs sessions of the Pi coding agent in isolated sandboxes ("pods") on a server you host, and you compose the environments they run in. Its author, edverma2, shared it on Hacker News as a Show HN in October 2026, where it got 121 points and 46 comments.

Core Obsidian covers a lot, but it has real gaps. These are the plugins I recommend to fill them (Omnisearch, Quick Switcher++, Notebook Navigator and more), grouped by job, with what to check before you install each one.

People mostly re-find things by orienteering, one small step at a time from something they know. Backlinks, the local graph, self-maintaining Maps of Content, project hubs and bookmarks are the Obsidian tools for that walk.

Your vault is a folder of Markdown files, so ripgrep, fzf, Raycast, git and Google can search it with Obsidian closed. When to leave the app, and the commands I use on my 30,000-note vault.

A few weeks into a project, its information is spread across email, chat, slides and people's heads. Give it one home, make documentation part of done, and keep a board and an executive summary current, so anyone can tell where the project stands without calling a meeting.

File Recovery, Sync history and git bring back what you deleted. The Obsidian CLI gives scripts and AI agents Obsidian's own index. And when search misses a note you know exists, six checks, in order, find the cause.

The quick switcher opens notes by name, the Search view finds them by content, and Bases answer questions about dates, links and properties. Here's how to use each one, including the operators that don't exist.

You don't need to start over. Measure how well search works today, then fix what you actually search for, one layer at a time, 15 minutes a day.

Folders by type, an archive for what's done, links, Maps of Content and a daily-note timeline make "roughly when" or "something related" enough to find a note. Plus the checklist I run when I capture something.

Once everything is a project, your project list can't tell you what you've promised, what's late or what's done. A simple definition, what to keep off the list, the seven things every project needs and a one-pager to copy.

Findability is decided when you write a note. Explicit titles, aliases, a note type, a few properties and separate tag families do more for search than any plugin.
